Chase points do not transfer to ANA

Chase Ultimate Rewards do not transfer to ANA Mileage Club. Amex Membership Rewards does, at 1:1. If the balance you can actually move is Chase Sapphire or Ink, you book ANA through a partner Chase does transfer to:

  1. Chase to United MileagePlus, then search ANA as a Star Alliance partner.
  2. Chase to Air Canada Aeroplan, then search ANA on the partner award.
  3. Chase to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, then ask about ANA partner space. Online inventory is often incomplete, so this one is frequently a phone call.

Those three transfers are 1:1, usually in 1,000-point increments. Pick the path that shows a seat you can ticket, then transfer. The move is almost always irreversible. Partner list reference: Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partners.

What ANA's chart charges for its own business class

If you hold ANA miles (the usual US path is an Amex transfer), ANA publishes seasonal required mileage for its own international flights. For Japan (Zone 1) to North America (Zone 6), business class, on tickets issued on or after June 24, 2025:

SeasonRound tripOne-way
Low100,00050,000
Regular105,00052,500
High165,00082,500

Source: ANA International Flight Awards. Season dates differ by zone pair. Check the seasonality table on that page before you assume low season. High-season Japan–North America business is 165,000 round trip / 82,500 one-way on that chart, not the lower high-season line some older writeups still repeat.

Award Optimizer's tracked transpacific ANA business cell is the low-season round trip, 100,000 miles. Our ANA Mileage Club guide still describes awards as round-trip only, and it still quotes a high-season business price of 110,000 round trip. That high-season line is stale against the chart above, where high season is 165,000 round trip and 82,500 one-way. The 110,000 round-trip figure that is still a real partner price is Zone 1-A, in the next paragraph, which is a different table. Confirm in ANA's booking flow that a one-way is actually offered on your dates.

Taxes and fees: VERIFY at booking. International ANA awards also require taxes, passenger facility charges, a fuel surcharge, and other fees. Do not budget a cash total from a blog.

Partner awards are a different table

Star Alliance and other partner awards on ANA's chart have no seasons. They are not the metal prices above. On ANA's partner chart, Japan Zone 1-A to North America business is 110,000 miles round trip / 55,000 one-way. Zone 1-B is higher: 117,000 round trip / 58,500 one-way. Quote the zone. A bare "110,000" is only Zone 1-A.

United, Aeroplan, or Virgin

United MileagePlus

United and ANA are both Star Alliance, and Chase transfers to United at 1:1, often near-instantly. See how Chase transfers to United.

United does not publish a single chart price for ANA business class. Pricing is dynamic. This page does not quote a United mileage figure, because there isn't a stable one. Search the exact flights on united.com, read the miles and the taxes together, and only then transfer. Our United MileagePlus guide is about that dynamic pricing, not a Tokyo number you can memorize.

United wins when ANA space shows in United's search at a total you accept and you want to ticket online. It loses when the dynamic price is painful. Check Aeroplan before you move the points.

Air Canada Aeroplan

Chase to Aeroplan is 1:1. Air Canada says most transfers finish by the next business day and may take up to seven business days. Do not cut it close on a seat that can disappear. Aeroplan conversion programs.

There is no single "Tokyo costs X Aeroplan points" price. Aeroplan prices by distance band, and it splits each band into Air Canada / select partners versus all other partners. ANA is an all-other-partner, not a select partner. For the 5,001–7,500 mile North America–Pacific band, the band that covers most US gateways to Tokyo, our chart file records 85,000 business miles one-way on that all-other-partners column. The same chart note records 55,000 business in the 0–5,000 mile band (Seattle–Tokyo sits near there) and 102,500 in the 7,501–11,000 mile band.

VERIFY your airports' flown distance on the current Flight Reward Chart before you treat 85,000 as your price. Aeroplan's June 1, 2026 chart update is why a memorized Tokyo total is the wrong artifact. Aeroplan's chart-update summary.

Air Canada lists a flat partner booking fee of $39 per ticket. VERIFY the cash line at checkout anyway. Taxes sit on top of that fee, and the currency on the ticket can differ from the page you read. The Aeroplan guide covers the program; fuel surcharges explains why the cash line still matters when the mileage price looks clean.

Aeroplan wins when its quote undercuts United's dynamic price and you can wait for the transfer to post.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

Virgin is a Chase 1:1 partner, and ANA partner awards have historically been booked with Flying Club, often by phone. This page does not quote a Virgin-to-ANA mileage price. Treat any screenshot of "ANA first for XX,XXX Virgin points" as VERIFY as of the call. Confirm four things before you transfer:

  1. Virgin still allows the ANA routing you want.
  2. The cabin and the mileage the agent actually quotes.
  3. The taxes and surcharges on that quote.
  4. That the Chase transfer will post before any hold expires.

Virgin wins only when that confirmed quote beats United and Aeroplan on the same dates. It loses when the phone inventory isn't there or the fees erase the mileage savings.

United looks dynamic and painful, and Aeroplan prices the same seat on a distance band you have checkedAeroplanFixed partner column for that band. Watch the transfer lag and the cash line.
Neither site shows the seat, and a phone agent can ticket ANA with VirginVirgin, by phoneLast resort. Confirm the quote before you transfer. Do not use a remembered price.

Run the route before you transfer. Award Optimizer compares the published chart rates we track for a US–Tokyo business trip. It will not invent a live United price. Narita is prefilled; switch the trip type if you are pricing a one-way partner award, and search Haneda separately if that is the airport you want.

Search Tokyo (Narita) business with Chase UR · Same search for Haneda

Rule for the winner: lowest all-in cost on a seat you can actually ticket.

Transfer only after the seat is real

  1. Join United MileagePlus and Aeroplan. Add Virgin Flying Club if you might call. The name on the account has to match Chase.
  2. Search your US gateway to Haneda or Narita. Note the operating carrier. ANA flights are NH.
  3. When United and Aeroplan both show the same flights, compare miles and taxes. Do not compare a United quote from Tuesday with an Aeroplan quote from Friday.
  4. Transfer Chase points 1:1 to the winner only. Leave the rest where it is.
  5. Ticket as soon as the miles post.
  6. Then book Tokyo nights. Hotels.com or Expedia for hotels, VRBO if you want an apartment, Klook for day tours. The partner links are below. No credit-card apply links on this page.

The mistakes that actually cost points: transferring to ANA from Chase (the button is not there), transferring before the seat is held, treating the partner chart as the metal chart, quoting 110,000 without saying Zone 1-A, and ignoring Aeroplan's transfer lag.

Frequently asked questions

Can I transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to ANA?

No. ANA Mileage Club is not a Chase transfer partner. Amex Membership Rewards is the major US bank currency with a direct ANA transfer. Chase holders book ANA through United, Aeroplan, or Virgin.

How many miles is ANA business class to Tokyo?

On ANA's own metal, Japan to North America business is 100,000 / 105,000 / 165,000 round trip in low, regular, and high season, and 50,000 / 52,500 / 82,500 one-way, for tickets issued on or after June 24, 2025. Partner awards are separate: Zone 1-A is 110,000 round trip / 55,000 one-way, and Zone 1-B is 117,000 round trip / 58,500 one-way. United's price is dynamic, so this page does not quote one. Source: ANA's international and partner award charts.

Is Aeroplan or United better for ANA?

Whichever shows the seat at the lower miles-plus-fees total for your dates. United is often faster to fund from Chase. Aeroplan can win when the distance-band price beats United's dynamic quote. There is no universal winner, and Virgin is only in the running after a confirmed phone quote.

Tokyo, after the ticket is issued. Hotels.com or Expedia for hotels, VRBO for an apartment-style stay, Klook for day tours.

Book the hotel only after the award is ticketed. These are the household sites we already use. Award Optimizer may earn a commission if you book through them. The mileage figures on this page are not sponsored.

Confirm the seat, then move the points

Chase can reach ANA metal only through United, Aeroplan, or a confirmed Virgin partner award. ANA's own seasonal chart is the Amex path. Do not transfer against a United number you remember, or a Virgin phone price you saw in a screenshot.
